Hurriyat (G) leaders, activists protest at Hyderpora | KNO

Srinagar, December 14 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (G) leaders and activists held peaceful protests after congregational Friday prayers in Hyderpora against the ‘gross human rights violations’, excessive use of pellet guns and shifting of political prisoners to Indian jails at the hands of forces. According to a statement issued to KNO, Hurriyat Conference organized a peaceful protest at Hyderpora Srinagar against ‘Indian state-terrorism’ and besides large number of people and leaders including Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Bilal Ahmad Sidiqui, Syed Bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Mohammad Yaseen Aatie, Mohammad Maqbool Maghami, Arshad Aziz, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mubashir Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Beigh and Ashiq Hussain Sofi and other participated. Hurriyat leaders said that “India claims to have the brave and disciplined army of the world, but in reality they are so cowards and timed that they shower bullets and pallets to the un-armed people especially kids. They try test their muscles and arsenal on the peaceful protestors who are just demanding their basic and fundamental right, right to self-determination as promised by their own leaders.” Voicing serious concern over the shifting the prisoners outside valley, leaders demanded immediate halt on such arbitrary measures perpetrated by administration, appealing world human rights organization for their cognizance and impressed to raise their voice and come to the rescue of subjugated people in Kashmir. Addressing protestors and people, the leaders said that “the growing Indian aggression against unarmed and peaceful people in state has touched the alarming line and turned this beautiful place into a “battle field”. Under well thought out plane the Indian authorities and their forces are carrying genocide.” Hurriyat leaders condemned the prolonged detention of political prisoners and called it as ‘an extreme vandalism and coercion’, which presents a martial law like situation. Demanding immediate release of all political prisoners including leaders lodged outside the state, Hurriyat (G) leaders said that “by pushing people to wall India will achieve nothing, they should face the political leaders and workers on political turf.” Lamenting Delhi for their rhetoric about democracy and freedom of speech, the leaders said that “their tall claims about freedom of expression and democracy stand exposed as they didn’t dare to face pro-freedom leadership and resorted to vandalism, arresting leadership, imposing restrictions, bullying and denying political space to leadership. ” They appealed Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other international organization for human rights to break silence and take cognizance of the plight of suppressed and oppressed people in state of Jammu and Kashmir and urged to fulfill their obligations in accordance with human rights specified for world community.
